Mošćenička draga
Ethno Village Trebišće
...where the forest whispers mythical tales.
The hamlet of Trebišća is located in a wooded valley at the foot of the mythical Perun hill. It is a place of special mystical energy where more than a thousand years ago our ancient Slavic ancestors settled together with their gods. Along the noisy cascades of the creek Potok they built a mill, which for centuries was the very heart of this place. The inhabitants of Mošćenice and Brseč with their donkeys came to the mill along the steep Mill Road from Mošćenice and Brseč. Today, most visitors come to Trebišća along the mythical-historical trail from Mošćenička Draga. Take a walk through this mythical story and visit the House of the Tree of the World in Trebišće – the symbolic home of a large family of Old Slavic gods. In it, you will learn how the intricate relationships between the ancient gods affect the changes of the seasons and the life cycles of all living beings on Earth. If you wish, you can continue your journey across the Petrebišća plateau to the very top of Perun Hill, or stay in the forest for a while and play on a themed playground inspired by Old Slavic mythology.
The interpretation center is located in a rural stone house in Trebišće. Museologically and museographically, it interprets Old Slavic mythology as the central theme and through its optics presents other heritage values of this area. The exhibition is interdisciplinary elaborated, creative and innovative in terms of production, especially adapted to the rural context and has a strong European dimension through the pan-Slavic dimension.
Themed playgrounds in the municipality of Mošćenička Draga form a space for children of different ages to play and a space for all visitors to stay and socialize. The playing equipment follows the heritage basis of each of the locations, so the theme of the forest playground with elements of Old Slavic mythology, located in the hamlet of Trebišća above Mošćenička Draga, is designed to encourage an adrenaline experience and the creation of your own games with its installation of abstract wooden devices.
