Rijeka has always been defined by its people. As a city whose identity is shaped by multiculturalism, it
has always connected different nations and cultures. From house to house, from person to person, its
heritage has interlaced its unique threads.
With a population of around 108,000, Rijeka brings together 22 different nationalities. Its heritage is
embedded in every corner of the city, from its architecture to its people, echoing the generations that
have shaped it.

Whether you explore it through its rich and layered history, through the stories of its inhabitants
reflected in architecture, legends, castles, museums, or industrial heritage, through its port, which
has always brought people together, or simply by observing attentively – Rijeka’s urban culture will
become a part of you forever.

The Visitor Center of the “Bonding by Heritage” project is envisaged as a unique space for presenting
the legacy that will be revitalized as part of this initiative. The Center will serve as a place where
visitors can learn about the cultural heritage of all project partners.
The objective is to provide visitors with essential information about the locations, offer them the
opportunity to experience the atmosphere and aesthetic of each site, and inspire them to explore,
discover and learn about the heritage on site.

The future Heritage Visitor Center will be situated on the ground floor of the Filodrammatica building.
The interior will include a central hall with an info zone, two separate areas for a souvenir shop and a
multipurpose hall, and four supporting and auxiliary rooms. The Visitor Center will also feature the
so-called “Adaptive Room”, a versatile multimedia space designed for themed exhibitions,
conferences, presentations, educational programs and workshops. These activities aim to educate
people and raise awareness of the cultural and historical significance of the heritage preserved by the
project partners. The integration of newly developed heritage experiences across Rijeka Urban
Agglomeration will be evident in the center’s exhibitions and activities, serving as a thread that brings
together all the newly established culture and tourism products, forming a distinctive tourist offering
for the entire region.
