The town of Grobnik captivates with its stunning view of the mountain peaks on one side and the blue sea on the other. It is a place immersed in silence, surrounded by the sky and green forests. A place where the old and stony guardian of the entire Grobnik region, Kaštel Grobnik, tells us stories of old, turbulent times and warlike conquerors. Discover the famous and unknown heroes created by life itself, through the eyes of former, but everyday heroes – the old Grobnik residents. Whether through the preservation of the original speech – the „grobnička čakavština“  dialect, or through the stories of former residents or the promenades that tell us stories about medieval laws, the Homeland Collection or the Gallery of Contemporary Art – here you will encounter a heritage that is still alive. In addition to reviving the heritage of their ancestors, the people of Grobnik are also creating new ones – as an example and inspiration for all future generations.

Kaštel Grobnik is the westernmost Frankopan castle of the former Vinodol Principality of Grobnik; it is located at the most militarily, economically and traffic-friendly point of Vinodol. The Grobnik Castle is located on the top of a dominant hill above the Rječina valley and the western part of the Grobnik field. The Castle houses the Grobnišćina Local History Collection and the Grobnik Gallery of Contemporary Fine Arts, which houses paintings by artists from Croatia and abroad, mostly participants of the Grobnik International Art Colony, which has been held in the Castle since 1996.

As part of the project, the space of the Gallery of Contemporary Fine Arts was renovated and a multimedia guide was created that includes a guided walk through the Castle and a presentation of the history and interesting facts from the life of the Castle and its immediate surroundings, a description of people and events through audio themes illustrated with pictures, videos and augmented reality (AR) displays, 3D mapping on the walls and ceiling and via an interactive info kiosk in the gallery. With its modern interpretation of this cultural heritage, Grobnik Castle is an indispensable location for visitors to this area.

The Gallery hosts various types of cultural and artistic events; exhibitions, lectures, workshops, seminars, creative evenings, cultural and social events, etc. and presents a new renewed dynamic space that supports the dialogue between art and the audience, promotes innovation and creates a platform for new artistic and cultural expressions.
