Lokvina is an old town square that looks almost identical since the stormy Middle Ages. It is very easy to imagine shouting and loud conversations in the local dialect and the difficult but colourful life of local people.

Lokvina also hides a legend about the harmony and rebellious spirit of the Kastav people. The story in which harmony and togetherness defeat tyranny can be found carved on a stone well with an inscription from the distant year 1666, and it talks about how the people of Kastav drowned the infamous captain Fran Morelli, because he collected more taxes than was agreed upon by the Kastav Law.

Today, Lokvina hosts important city events such as Kastav City Day, as well as other social and entertainment activities.

On the Lokvina square, the ground was paved, ambient lighting was installed, and the second stone well was renovated. After the implementation of the project, the new attractive presentation will emphasize the historical and cultural importance of the locality, and it will also enable more adequate use of the space for various programmes throughout the year.

The newly renovated location is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
