Mošćenička draga
Mošćenice Fortress
...where heritage becomes a part of you.
On a plateau, 170 meters above sea level, people have chosen Mošćenice as their safe haven since ancient times. The city walls have protected their inhabitants from outside dangers for centuries, and you can find and read the interesting history of this town at almost every step through its narrow stone streets. Be sure to visit the modernized exhibition of the Museum Collection of Mošćenice, where you will get acquainted with the interesting provisions of the Law of Mošćenice and the rich ethnographic heritage, traditional life and culture of the local heritage community. An integral part of the ethnographic experience is the old mill in which olives were once processed. At that time of the year, a mill was a gathering place for locals and the very heart of the social life of Mošćenice. Today, children are also happy to gather in the “little Mošćenice”, an interesting themed playground arranged under the old town, where imaginative play equipment is represented by cheerful coastal houses on the hill.
The Museum Collection of Mošćenice contains an ethnographic collection that includes the prominent tangible and intangible heritage of the historic town of Mošćenice and its surroundings, thus enriching the cultural and tourist offer of the municipality of Mošćenička Draga.
Themed playgrounds in the municipality of Mošćenička Draga form a space for children of different ages to play and a space for all visitors to stay and socialize. The playing equipment follows the heritage basis of each of the locations, so the wooden devices in Mošćenice represent small cheerful coastal houses on the hill – “little Mošćenice”.
